BALA CYNWYD, PA, April 24, 2024 – James G. Steiker and Steven B. Greenapple of SES ESOP Strategies will present in the upcoming 2024 National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) Conference in Tampa, Florida on April 29-May 1.
Mr. Steiker will join the panel “Internal & External Trustee Duties & Responsibilities: Legal Administration, and Valuation” on May 1 to discuss how critical Trustees are in setting the share price of an ESOP and managing its success. The panelists will demystify a range of intricacies surrounding the ESOP plan and its administration.
Mr. Greenapple’s panel “ESOP Leadership Dynamics: Exploring the Evolution of Directors’ and Executive Officers’ Roles in Ownership” on April 29 will explore key aspects of the interconnected functions between the ESOP Trustee, the Board of Directors, the Executive Management Team, and the ESOP Participants. Discussion will delve into real-world perspectives on what it means to manage and contribute to the success of an ESOP-owned company.
Chairman of SES ESOP Strategies, Mr. Steiker is a corporate, pension and tax attorney and financial advisor with more than 35 years of experience in ESOPs and other employee ownership matters. He focuses his practice primarily on ESOP design, transactions and compliance in entrepreneurial companies. He has served on the ESOP Association Board of Governors and is a past Chair of the ESOP Association’s Advisory Committee on Finance. Mr. Steiker is also a former Trustee of the Employee Ownership Foundation and a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Employee Ownership. He is a Director and Co-Chair of the Employee Ownership Expansion Network and also serves as a Director of seven ESOP companies.
Mr. Greenapple has more than 30 years of experience in transactions involving ESOPs. He has represented ESOP plan sponsors, shareholders selling to an ESOP and ESOP trustees in transactions establishing and amending ESOPs, increasing ESOPs’ share ownership, using ESOPs to acquire other businesses, and terminating and buying out ESOPs. Clients and their corporate counsel also rely on him to serve as special ESOP counsel on key transactions. He is the Past Chair of The ESOP Association’s Legal and Regulatory Committee and current Trustee of the Employee Ownership Foundation.
